Tip #1 Start the book.

This may seem fairly obvious, even laughable, but the truth is that book ain’t going to write itself. You may have the best plot, most terrifying thriller, heartbreaking romance, absorbing memoir or convoluted mystery going in your brain, but if you don’t start putting it down somewhere, I can guarantee you it will never become a book.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard people say, some day I’m going to write a book. The trick is to make today the day.

Starting isn’t as difficult as it seems. You just sit down in front of the computer and open a document called ‘book’. Or you pick up a legal pad and pen and have at it. Don’t worry about format. You can fix that later. Let your brain and your fingers take it from there.  Don’t overthink it. You might be surprised at what comes to be.
